Consultant & Interventional Cardiologist

Associate Professor Peter Barlis is a Consultant and Interventional Cardiologist who sees patients will all elements of heart disease including coronary disease, heart failure, arrhythmias and valve disease.

After graduating from the University of Melbourne, he completed a Masters of Public Health at Monash University before pursing his interventional cardiology fellowship at the Royal Brompton Hospital, London, UK. He is a pioneer in the field of coronary imaging using a technique called optical coherence tomography, which he introduced into Australia in 2009. He was awarded his PhD from the prestigious Thoraxcentre in the Netherlands. Associate Professor Peter Barlis has published works in many medical periodicals and is regularly invited to speak both nationally and internationally.

Associate Professor Peter Barlis currently holds public appointments at both St Vincents and The Northern Hospitals. He also holds private appointments at St Vincents Private, Epworth Hospital and Warringal Private and is an Associate Professor of Medicine with the North West Academic Centre of the University of Melbourne.

Associate Professor Peter Barlis also speaks fluent Greek.
